The Engadine girls JV and varsity volleyball seasons are now on hold after multiple players recently came into contact with a person who has since tested positive for Covid-19. The JV and varsity matches scheduled for Tuesday night at home vs. Munising were cancelled and all practices and competitions have been suspended until Tuesday, September 8 – at the earliest.

When speaking to the Newberry News, Engadine Consolidated Schools Superintendent Josh Reed said that the decision was made as a precaution after the district was notified of the possible connection. He explained, “We have decided that as a district, there will be no JV or varsity volleyball activities until next Tuesday, September 8th. This includes all practices and games. We set September 8th as a potential return date because we have been told that is when all possible parties involved will have completed their quarantine.”

The Lady Eagle JV and varsity volleyball teams opened their season last week when they hosted Manistique and then traveled to Indian River for a tri meet. The team does not have another scheduled contest after Tuesday night’s cancellation vs Munising until September 15, when they are scheduled for an EUP Conference match at DeTour
