The Newberry High School Football program is hosting its annual Youth Football Camp at the football field June 3-5 after school. Football camp gives area youngsters a chance to try football in a fun environment. Registration fees from the camp benefit the Newberry High School Football program and is one of its major fundraisers each year.

Youth attending the camp will meet in the high school gym following school and proceed to the football field for the camp. Students in 4th and 5th grade will be in one age group, participating in drills with the high school football team, and students in 7th and 8th grade will be in a separate age group instructed by the youth and high school coaching staffs.  Campers in 6th grade can choose which age group they join, based on if they are playing flag football or Tackle football in the fall. Students will be divided based on what grade they’ll be in for the 2024-2025 school year. Camp participants are encouraged to wear cleats or athletic shoes and bring water.

Camp participants will have one day of offense and one day of defense, followed by flag football scrimmages on the final day. Camp activities will run from 3:30 – 5 p.m. on June 3 and 4, and 3:30 – 6 p.m. on June 5th.

Registration fees are $20 per participant, and camp is open to all area youth — both boys and girls. Families can receive a reduced registration fee of $10 if they sign their child up for the 2024 Youth Football Season. The Tahquamenon Area Youth Football Association will have a sign-up table at the camp for those who want to register early for the upcoming season.

Season registration is $25 for flag football (grades 4/5/6) and $50 for tackle football (grades 7 and 8, or 6th grade with parent permission). Anyone with any questions can contact Zach Clickner at (906) 291-1381 or message him via Facebook.
