A portion of the plaster ceiling in Newberry High School’s Bystrom Auditorium has been damaged and is falling from the ceiling, rendering the room unusable at this time.

The problem began nearly 10 years ago due to a roof issue, had been repaired and the plaster was restored.

The roof on the current high school building was not replaced in the recent bond project, as the structure will be closed once the bond project is completed in the next couple of years. Both middle and high school students will be relocated to the newer portion of the facility.

TAS Superintendent Stacy Price has been working with the insurance adjuster to come up with a possible solution for the situation, and said she plans to make a decision on the matter this week.
