Willard J. Kime

February 16, 1935 – December 23, 2020 Willard J. Kime of Newberry, MI passed away December 23, 2020 in Quartzsite, AZ. Willard was born February 16, 1935 in Howe, IN, son of Ervin and Mildred (Harris) Kime.

On November 5, 1955 he married Mary Ann (Shaw). He is survived by his wife and children Thomas (Vicki) Kime of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, Catherine Hickox of Newberry, MI, and Douglas (Lori) Kime of Westville, FL; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sisters Mary Ellen Carpenter of Forsyth, GA, Patty Andrews of Austin, TX, Norma (Charles) Stanner of Cocoa Beach, FL, Janet (Paul) Howard of Sturgis, MI; sister-in-law Mary Lou Kime of Howe, IN; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Kime, and sister Lois Marks of Howe, IN.Willard had many talents, but his best achievement was building a small dump truck called the “Bummer” which he loved and drove until his death. A celebration of his life will be held July 24, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. at the cabin on the Tahquamenon River, Newberry, MI.

Ronald R. Sellers

Ronald R. Sellers, age 82, of Manistique passed away early Thursday morning, June 10, 2021 at UP Health Systems in Marquette. Ronald was born November 4, 1938 in Detroit, MI the son of Richard and Elsie (Flatt) Sellers. Ronald was united in marriage to the love of his life Charlene Ashby on May 8, 1965. When their daughter Marlene was born they moved to Manistique, MI and purchased Manistique Floral in 1970. While living in Manistique the couple gave birth to a son Merle. Ronald retired from the floral shop in 1995. Ron loved family and friends. He would never pass up an opportunity to eat good food, especially desserts, and have good times with them. We know he is happier now that he is reunited with his wife, parents, and family that have gone before him and especially his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Ronald is survived by: Daughter: Marlene (Mark) Videtich of Hudson, WI Son: Merle (Marie) Sellers of Manistique, MI Grandchildren: Katie, Nick, Ashley (Fiance Tom Bye), Eli, Ellie, and Elise Numerous Cousins, and many close friends In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by wife Charlene Sellers and several uncles. A visitation will take place on Friday, June 18, 2021 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at First Baptist Church, 218 Walnut Street, Manistique, MI. A memorial service will follow visiting hours with Pastor Jay Martin officiating.

Gary Eugene Fisher

Gary Eugene Fisher, 73, of Gould City, went to be with Lord Monday afternoon May 30, 2021 at his residence.  Gary was born February 1, 1948 in Adrian, son of the late Leland and Ruth (Bacus) Fisher. Gary married the love of his life, the former Susan Lynn DuBois, on June 26, 1970 in Spokane, Washington and she preceded him in death on July 28, 2017. Gary is survived by his children Bradley (Shawna) O. Fisher of Cedar Creek, Texas, Nicole Marie Fisher of Engadine and Erwin Miachel Watkins of Engadine; his two beloved grandchildren Gregory Erwin Fisher and Nicholas Leland Fisher both of Engadine; sister Vera Fisher Kaderabek of Little Rock, Arkansas and brother Dale Fisher of Saline, Michigan. On October 13, 1967. Gary enlisted and proudly served his country in the United States Army completing a tour in Vietnam until his honorable discharge on May 21, 1970. Gary was a man who was known for his kindness and genuine interest for the well-being of members in the community.  He was a man who loved his family unconditionally as well as his country and God.  Gary will be forever missed for his outgoing personality, positive attitude towards life and his love for animals.  These traits defining Gary’s character will never be forgotten.  The memories he left for his family and friends are a treasure and held as blessings beyond measure. Jan Mary Craycraft

Jan Mary Craycraft, age 64, of Farwell, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at her home. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Jan was born January 17, 1957, in Newberry, Michigan, the daughter of George and Pansy (Gareau) Craycraft. She was a graduate of Newberry High School with the class of 1975. Jan retired from the State of Michigan in 2009. She worked for the Newberry Regional Center and transferred to the Mt. Pleasant Regional Center. After retirement, she continued caring for others as a direct care worker. Jan enjoyed bowling, music, her dog Chief, and caring for her plants. She was an avid reader and loved her puzzles and her daily crossword puzzle. Jan is survived by her daughter Angie Zellar and grandson Jacob Zellar both of Manistique; brothers George Craycraft, Jr. of Kinross, Fred (Trisha) Craycraft of Virginia Beach; sister Lynn Jones of Newberry; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Jan was preceded in death by her parents; sister Sharon Lickman; brother David Craycraft; and brother-in-law Mike Jones.

James Dale Foley

Lifelong Newberry resident, James Dale Foley, 88, died Friday morning June 11, 2021 at his residence with his loving family at his side and the care of North Woods Hospice. Born March 20, 1933 in Newberry, son of the late Thomas and Ursula (Thompson) Foley, Jim was a 1951 graduate of Newberry High School. On March 26, 1952, Jim enlisted in the United States Army serving during the Korean War until his honorable discharge on March 25, 1955 attaining the rank of Sergeant. Jim was employed as a systems technician for Michigan Bell for over 35 years until his retirement in 1993. Jim was a member of St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Curtis, the American Legion Post #74 and B.P.O.E. #1705 both of Newberry.  His hobbies included reading, bird watching, church choir and summer visits to Stanley Lake.  In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his first wife Aileen Foley and siblings Sr. Nadine Foley, Thomas Foley and Robert Foley. Survivors include his loving wife, the former Jean Taylor, whom he married in December of 1995; children Thomas (Corrine) Foley of Wrightwood, CA, Molly (Larry Healy) Foley-Healy of Arvada, CO and Kate (Ken) Nelson of Appleton, WI; grandchildren Patrick, Ryan, Tanner and Victoria; great-grandsons Abel and Elias; siblings Yvonne (John) Lelli of Shelby Township, Tim (Jean) Foley of Cheboygan, Patricia (John Wiznerowicz) Foley of Midland and Michael (Ann Routt) Foley of Ypsilanti; several nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends will take place Tuesday June 15, 2021 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Curtis.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 am at the church with Fr. Marty Flynn and Fr. Phil Witkowski concelebrating. Rite of Committal with full military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #74 and the United States Army Honor Guard will follow at Forest Home Cemetery in Newberry.
