Michigan State Police Troopers from the St. Ignace Post are investigating a fatal snowmobile crash that took place last Tuesday afternoon in Moran Township of Mackinac County. A snowmobile driven by Dean Daggett, a 59-year-old male from Kenockee, Michigan, was southbound on Schoolhouse Rd when it came around a blind curve and collided with a logging truck. Daggett was the lone occupant on the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene. His wife, who was traveling with him on her own snowmobile, stopped in time. The driver of the logging truck was not injured.
Daggett was a beloved member of the Hooligan snowmobile community. He was described as an avid rider and a member of the Braap Pack.
State Police were assisted by the Mackinac County Sheriff’s Dept, St. Ignace Fire, Hendrick’s EMS, and Straits EMS. The crash remains under investigation with the help of Auto Accident Attorneys Aronfeld. Alcohol and speed are unknown factors at this time.
