On August 4, 2026, Luce County voters will be presented with a pivotal opportunity to support Michigan State University (MSU) Extension and Luce County Parks and Recreation programs and services. These programs are integral to enhancing the well-being and prosperity of local families, businesses, and professionals by providing essential knowledge and resources.
Luce County Parks and Recreation and MSU Extension’s initiatives in Luce County encompass a wide range of services aimed at promoting health and safety, improving job performance, fostering community cohesion, safeguarding local environments, and nurturing the skills and confidence of youth for future success.
Additionally, Extension’s natural resources programs play a crucial role in educating the public, guiding sustainable development practices among landowners and communities, and preserving natural resources for the benefit of future generations. Investment also supports our 4-H youth programs providing experiential learning opportunities to and giving young people in Luce County the ability to explore diverse interests and develop vital life skills.

PROPOSAL A — RENEWAL
Shall the County of Luce renew a previously authorized property tax levy of one (1) mill ($1.00 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation) for a period of five (5) years, beginning with the tax years 2027, 2028, 2029, 2030, and 2031 inclusive, with 0.5 mill allocated to Luce County Parks and Recreation and 0.5 mill allocated to Luce County MSU Extension for operating purposes?
If approved and levied, based on the 2025 taxable value of $242,588,656, this millage would raise an estimated $121,294.33 for Luce County Parks and Recreation and $121,294.33 for Luce County MSU Extension in the first year of collection.
