Approximately 200 people attended the 2023 Spring Fling, the first event of the newly formed Yooper Youth organization. 
The dance, held in the Tahquamenon Area Schools cafeteria, featured games, face painting, a photo booth, candy “cake” walk, and concessions. Speakers and lights for the dance were supplied by Curt Taylor. There was no admission fee for the event, though attending parents contributed generous donations.
Yooper Youth plans to make the Spring Fling an annual event.
The next Yooper Youth event is a safety fair at the school beginning at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 17. The safety fair will take place during school hours to allow elementary kids to attend. Vehicles from the Newberry Fire Department, Luce County Sheriff’s Department, EMS, Cloverland Electric and MDOT will be on display.
