Tahquamenon Area Schools is happy to announce our employees of the year for the 2024/2025 school year.
The support staff employee of the year is paraprofessional Jessica Huffman. Jessica’s colleagues shared that she has really stepped up this year with all our students and always has their best interest on her mind. She goes above and beyond to help everyone.
You can always count on Jessica to have a smile and to greet you with a friendly greeting. Jessica has been a great addition to our paraprofessional team. Congratulations, Jessica!
The professional staff employee of the year is Dawnica Burton. Dawnica’s colleagues shared that Dawnica has dedicated her life to her students. She works tirelessly to make her students love English, and that love comes back to her. She is one of the best teachers I’ve ever had the pleasure of teaching with. She has been an inspiration to me.
Dawnica cares so deeply for her students. It’s so evident in the way the students talk about her, even years after they’ve had her. It says a lot about her when you ask a student five years later and they still say their favorite teacher is Mrs. Burton!
Dawnica will be retiring this June with 23 years at TAS. She will be missed and there are big shoes to fill, but we wish her the best in her new adventures. Congratulations, Dawnica!
