The Engadine Consolidated Schools Board of Education will interview three finalists next week as it works to select the district’s next superintendent following the resignation of Superintendent Andrew Alvesteffer.

The public interviews will be held Wednesday, July 8, in the Community Room at Engadine High School.

The interview schedule is:

4:30 p.m. – Heather Luoto, current Engadine K-12 administrator.
5:30 p.m. – Dr. Christopher Carlson, assistant principal at Lakeland High School in Huron Valley Schools.
6:30 p.m. – Anthony Pascoe, an educator with Marquette Area Public Schools and former principal.

The public is encouraged to attend the interviews.

The search for a new superintendent comes after Alvesteffer announced he was leaving the district to become superintendent of Montabella Community Schools in central Michigan. Alvesteffer, who has led Engadine Consolidated Schools for nearly five years, told board members his decision was motivated by a desire to move closer to family. His final day with the district is scheduled for July 17.

Rather than hiring an outside search firm, the school board chose to conduct its own superintendent search in an effort to ensure a smooth transition. Following the interviews, the board is expected to deliberate and select the district’s next leader later this month.

The new superintendent will lead the district as Engadine prepares for the 2026-27 school year, continuing ongoing initiatives that include facility improvements, school safety enhancements, and efforts to secure additional grant funding begun under Alvesteffer’s administration.
