Jay Edward Endsley
December 15, 1985 – July 19, 2026

Jay Edward Endsley, age 40, of Newberry, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2026. Born December 15, 1985, in Newberry, Jay was the son of Eric and Janice (Whitman) Endsley.

Jay attended school in Newberry and graduated from Newberry High School. He had a deep love for music and enjoyed playing COD, cornhole, and cards. Some of his happiest moments were spent with family or sitting by a fire with a beer in hand. Over the years, Jay worked at 2D Metals, Banks Hardwood, and Newberry Wood. Easygoing and generous, Jay was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back. He always had a comment or a joke ready – something to make you smile even on the hardest days.

Jay was a devoted son, brother, father, uncle, and a friend to many.

He is survived by his parents, Eric and Janice Endsley of Newberry; his daughter, Emily Endsley of Newberry; siblings Terry (Melissa), Billiejo, and Jill (Jamie), all of Newberry; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

Jay was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rex and Ivis Endsley and Raleigh and Dorothy Whitman, along with several aunts and uncles.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Jay’s life will be held Sunday, August 9, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the residence of Eric and Janice Endsley, 4795 East Greenwood Drive, Newberry, Michigan 49868.

Memorial contributions may be directed to his daughter, Emily, in his honor.

Maureen Faye Cole
April 2, 1940 – July 28, 2026

Maureen Faye Cole, age 86, passed away peacefully at home on July 28, 2026, with her loving family by her side.

Maureen was born on April 2, 1940, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Eugene Joppich and Beatrice Lugg Lloid. Following her schooling, she married Gerald Cole on August 6, 1960, in Milwaukee. Together, they built a life centered on family and raised three children.

Although Maureen worked at Yankees retail store and later served as a pool attendant and lifeguard at Patrick Henry Apartments, she was best known for the loving care she gave while raising all three of her children at home. Her devotion to her family was at the heart of her life, and the home she created will remain a treasured part of her legacy.

Maureen found joy in her devotion to God, the music of Elvis Presley and country artists, the movies of John Wayne, and time spent dancing and bowling. These favorite pastimes reflected her lively spirit and created many happy memories for us all.

She is survived by her sons, Eugene (Karin) Cole of Newberry, Michigan, and Tom Cole of Germfask, Michigan; her daughter, Leisa Harris of Germfask, Michigan; her grandchildren, Kristopher Cole and Ashlee (Cameron) Convery; her great-grandchild, Zaine Convery; her brother, Tom; and her sister, Pat (Ted) Delang, sister-in-law Mary Richards, in-laws Fred and Rose Evans, brother-in-law Bob Skeans, sister-in-law Gladys Cole and many nieces, nephews and dear long time friends. Maureen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald, sister Eileen.

A memorial service honoring Maureen’s life will take place on August 11, 2026. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM with the memorial service to follow at 3:00 PM at Fausett Family Funeral Homes of Manistique, Michigan.

Shirley J. Moore
March 28, 1948 – July 22, 2026

Longtime Hulbert resident Shirley J. Moore, 78, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Detroit Receiving Hospital.

Born March 28, 1948, in Sault Ste. Marie, Shirley was the daughter of the late Malcolm and Rose (Noggle) McGillvary. She attended school in Strongs and Brimley Area Schools and later proudly earned her high school diploma.

In her youth, Shirley worked in the woods alongside her uncles, peeling poplar, spruce, and balsam trees. She also spent time working at the Fox Den and Midway Restaurant in Strongs, Michigan.

On December 11, 1965, she married Jerry Moore Sr., and together they built a life rooted in hard work and community. Shirley worked beside Jerry in the commercial fishing business, where they owned and operated two fish markets and party stores. She later became the owner of Shirley’s Happy Hour in Hulbert, which she ran for 14 years until her retirement in 2011.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Sr. in 2010; her son David in 2025; her longtime partner, James Davis in 2023; and step-son Tim Davis in 2010.
Survivors include her loving children Margaret (George) Moore of Hulbert, Melissa Moore of Hulbert, Jerry Moore Jr. of Shelldrake and Jeff (Lisa) Converse of Marquette; step-sons Todd Davis of Hulbert and James Davis Jr. of Newberry; daughter-in-law Tanya Moore of Paradise; brother Rudy (Billie Jo) Johnson of Strongs; and special friend Mike Mitchell of Paradise. She is also survived by her grandchildren Ashley Kerridge, Travis Peake, Brooke (Tony) Gartland, Logan Lee, and Wyatt Moore; great-grandchildren Isiah, Sabastian, Brant, Ryley, and Ava; several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren along with nephew Chad Johnson and nieces Erin Johnson and Wendy Newton.

A gathering of family and friends celebrating Shirley’s life will be held Thursday August 13, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the Strongs Community Bible Church with Pastor Josh Shelpman officiating.
