Marissa Lasslett

With heavy hearts we share the passing of our beloved daughter and sister, Marissa Lasslett, 27, on February 3, 2025.

Marissa was the best parts of her parents, Jason & Jennifer Lasslett, with her own personality and passions. We admired her sense of self, adventurous spirit, & stubborn fighting streaks. She was known for her kindness to all, being the best babysitter to her nephews, and always being there for her family and friends.

Marissa was a member of Newberry High School’s Class of 2015. She also attended North Central Michigan Community College and Western Michigan University. She earned an Associates Degree and will receive a posthumous Bachelors Degree in April, 2025. She worked at Seder’s Pizza, Petoskey Montessori, Meijer, Snyder’s Drug Store, and Maurice’s Clothing Store. She was due to begin student teaching in the fall.

Marissa loved her family and friends, books, reading, and Lake Superior. Her other hobbies included art, pottery, print making, collecting rocks & fossils, adventure, cosplay, Harry Potter, Disney & watching Marvel movies with her family.

She is survived by her parents, Jason & Jennifer Lasslett, her brother, Dakota (Katelyn), her nephews, Hunter & Declan, her grandparents, Timothy and Patricia Lasslett, several cousins, aunts, uncles, great aunts & great uncle, and a girl she thought of as her stepdaughter. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Clayton Seder and Willa Newville Seder and a favorite great uncle.

A Celebration of Life is planned for June 28, 2025. Details will be available on Facebook later this spring.
