Nancy Jane Turner
July 4, 1936 – February 14, 2026

Nancy Jane (Lockwood) Turner, 89, passed away peacefully at home on Valentines Day, February 14, 2026, with her loving family by her side, after a lengthy struggle with Lewy-Body Dementia. Nancy was born on July 04, 1936, in St. Louis, Michigan. She was the daughter of the late Delos and Pauline (Heron) Lockwood.

After residing many years within the St. Louis and Alma area, Nancy and her mother traveled to the Upper Peninsula, where they lived in McMillan, and later on moving to Newberry, where she was a home maker and provided child care to local families. Again, after many years of living in Newberry, Nancy moved with her daughter to Kentucky, Texas and eventually to North Carolina.

In 1995, Nancy married late in her life to Ronald Turner, a wonderful man who lived in Longview, North Carolina. It was upon the death of her husband that she returned back to Newberry in 2002, to be closer with her family. Nancy enjoyed time with her family, cooking and baking delicious meals, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, knitting, needlepoint and cross stitch.

In addition to her parents Delos and Pauline, Nancy is preceded in death by her husband Ronnie and her brother Lawrence (Larry) Lockwood. She is survived by her beloved daughter Jennifer (James) Whalen of Newberry; grand daughters Jessica (Jason) Varney of Indian River, Michigan; Amanda Whalen of Howard City, Michigan, and three great-grandsons, Caleb and Noah Whalen-Varney of Indian River, Michigan and Adrien Whalen of Howard City, Michigan.

Nancy’s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the doctors and staff from the Helen Newberry Joy Hospital, and to the kindness and services provided from Northwoods Hospice.
Nancy’s wish was for cremation and her ashes be taken to Granite Falls, North Carolina for internment along side her husband. Memorials may be directed to the Dementia Society of America in her loving memory.
