Jenny George Burton
June 11, 1985 – November 11, 2025

On Tuesday evening, November 11, 2025, Jenny Lea George Burton left this earth to go camp and kayak in the great beyond. She is scouting the best camp sites, lakes, and rivers until she can be joined by the rest of us.

Jenny was born June 11, 1985 in Traverse City, Michigan. She graduated from Newberry High School, attended Lake Superior and Northern Michigan Universities. Jenny worked at McDonald’s for several years during high school where she loved her fellow crew members. She went on to work for the DNR as a park ranger at local state forest campgrounds as well as Muskellonge State Park. Jenny enjoyed sharing her love of the great outdoors with campers. Eventually, Jenny became a phlebotomist and became the life of the lab at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital. Then, luck led her to become a training coordinator at Louisiana-Pacific briefly before her cancer diagnosis in 2023.

Jenny spent her last 2 ½ years of life dedicated to living her best life, making memories with her daughters, Rylie and Kadie, and her husband, Brandon. They took cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska, went camping across the UP, took mountain vacations, and enjoyed trips to Gulf Shores with Grandma George. Jenny’s greatest joy was watching her girls participate in their favorite activities like volleyball, basketball, and hanging out with their friends. She could often be found volunteering at concession stands, pasty sales, or working NYBA events.

Jenny endured countless chemo combinations, immunotherapy treatments, radiation, and surgeries. She fought hard to stay as long as possible with her family, outliving her initial 6 month diagnosis by years through her sheer determination, positive attitude, and stubbornness.

While Jenny did not want a traditional funeral, a celebration of her life will be held next summer for close friends and family.

Jenny leaves behind her husband, Brandon, daughters, Rylie and Kadie, her parents, Bill and Cossondra George, mother-in-law, Debbie Burton, along with many others who loved and adored her bubbly personality.

Monetary memorials can be directed to her family or TAS Sports Boosters, to be designated for female athletics.
