Linda Joyce Ellis
November 18, 1941 – October 26, 2024
Linda Joyce Ellis, 82, of Newberry, died peacefully Saturday morning, October 26, 2024 at the residence of her sister, Cindy Vandercook.
Born November 18, 1941 in Newberry, daughter of the late Ephraim “Curt” and Mary (Lackey) Pedit, Linda was a 1959 graduate of Newberry High School and attended secretarial college in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Linda was an administrative assistant/accountant for Falls Building Supply in Newberry, Jack Williams Tire Company in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and ARC Company in Florida until her retirement in 2017. In 2020, Linda moved to New Era, Michigan and, in 2021, moved to Newberry, residing with her sister Cindy.
While residing in Florida, Linda was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary in Sebring and enjoyed diamond art, flower gardening/arranging and Facetiming her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Linda is preceded in death by her husband’s Richard Correll and Dale Ellis; brother-in-law Daniel Vandercook and sister-in-law Helen Pedit.
Survivors include her son Jim (Stacey Anderson) Correll of Myrtle Beach, S. Carolina; grandchildren Michael (Nikki) Correll of Seabrook, New Hampshire and Marissa (Ryan St. Pierre) Correll of Milton, Florida; great-grandchildren Greyson Correll, Ryder Correll and Sally St. Pierre; siblings Cindy Vandercook of Newberry, Arden Pedit of Bay City and Carolynn (Ray) Tomory of New Era; special niece and nephew Martha Stanley and Adam Vandercook.
Per request, cremation services were accorded. A memorial service celebrating the life of Linda will take place in the summer of 2025, to be announced.

Richard Dale Owen
April 25, 1941 – October 27, 2024
Richard Dale Owen, 83, of Curtis, died Sunday, October 27, 2024 at his residence in the presence of his loving family and the care of North Woods Hospice.
Born April 25, 1941 in Mason, son of the late Ernest and Lillian (Stamper) Owen, Richard moved to the Curtis area in his youth and attended Portage Township School.
From 1961-1963, Richard served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, transferring to the United States Army Reserve until his honorable discharge of October 31, 1964, attaining the rank of Private First Class.
Richard was employed as a welder equipment maintenance repairman for General Motors for 30 years and later at Chrysler Corp. for 5 years, retiring in 1993 with 40 years of service. Following his retirement, Richard moved back to Curtis and enjoyed metal detecting, golfing, fishing and working on his property.
In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his siblings Herbert Lawson, Gary Owen, Ruby Gehrett, Betty Fisher, Georgia Levielle and Arbutus Long.
Survivors include his loving wife, the former Marion Sanford, of Curtis; children Terri (Timothy) Geeding of Manteno, Illinois, Dan Owen of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Bill (Sherrie Berry) Koontz of Flint and Teresa (Bill) King of LaValle, Wisconsin; grandchildren Sam Geeding, Ben Geeding, Jennifer (Kyle) Eubanks, Heather (Ryan) Neitzel and Crystal (Matthew) Smith; great-grandchildren Solomon Eubanks, Isaiah Eubanks, Shelby Neitzel, Ashley (Trevor) Kaiser, Dakota Neitzel, Kyle (Ryann-Lynn) Smith, Joshua (Veda Melody) Smith and Breanna Smith; great-great-grandchildren Kaisley Kaiser, Emberley Smith, August Smith, Hayden Smith and Elijah Smith; siblings Joan Bader of Lapeer.
A gathering of family and friends will take place Friday, November 1, 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Curtis Baptist Church. Funeral services celebrating the life of Richard will follow at 11:00 am at the church with Benjamin Geeding, grandson of Richard, presiding. Interment with military honors conducted by the United States Army Honor Guard and the American Legion Post #74 will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Curtis.
