Harry B. Purdy

Harry B. Purdy, 91, of Newberry, died Monday morning, September 9, 2024 at Golden Leaves Living Center in Newberry.
Born June 1, 1933 in Newberry, son of the late Maxwell and Conrad (Skinner) Purdy, H.B. was a 1952 graduate of Newberry High School and a graduate of Michigan State University in East Lansing with a bachelor’s degree in Hotel and General Institute Management.
H.B. married the former Janice K. Viitala in 1958. H.B. started his career in Nursing Home Administration in Ishpeming, Michigan and held various positions in Hospital Administration in Manistique, Michigan; Marlette, Michigan; Kingman, Arizona; Safford, Arizona; Lone Pine, California; and ending his career in Crystal Falls, Michigan, retiring in 1994. Following retirement, H.B. made his home on Big Manistique Lake.
In addition to his parents, H.B. is preceded in death by his wife Janice on December 17, 2012.
Survivors include his daughters Stephanie (Joseph) Corio of Encinitas, California and Jessica (Darren) Maile of Tagshinny, Ireland; grandchildren Samantha Corio, Camden Corio and Liam Corio; sister Abby Kahn of California.
Per request, cremation services were accorded with no public services scheduled.
