Peggy Lee Crandell
May 24, 1954 – January 29, 2023

Longtime Newberry resident, Peggy Lee Crandell, 68, died Sunday morning January 29, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her loving family and the care of North Woods Home Care and Hospice.

Born May 24, 1954 in Newberry, daughter of the late Clyde Sr. and Mildred (Roach) Fraley, Peggy married Bobby Crandell Sr. on December 18, 1971 in Big Bay, Michigan.

Peggy was employed as a CNA with North Woods and the former Luce County Annex.  Peggy’s true love was being a homemaker, providing for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She enjoyed spending time with her family whether it was cooking for any occasion, babysitting, or attending their school and athletic events.

Peggy also enjoyed watching TV (especially Westerns), computer games, socializing on Facebook, flower gardening, casino gaming and was an avid fan of the Detroit Lions.

In addition to her parents, Peggy is preceded in death by her siblings Clyde Jr. (Edna) Fraley and Judy Tripp; brother-in-law Joe Hice and sister-in-law Marzy Fraley.

Survivors include her loving husband, Bobby, of Newberry; children Heather Crandell of Newberry, Bobby Jr. (Erin) Crandell of Howell, Misty (Joe) Ventimiglia of Newberry and Amber (Mike) Ash of Newberry; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; siblings Bobby (Cathy) Fraley of Big Bay, Doris Hice of Newberry, James (Debbie) Fraley of Big Bay and Jink Fraley of Big Bay; brother-in-law Terry Tripp of Harvey.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Peggy will be held Friday February 10, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry with Pastor Ron Oberle, of the Newberry Pentecostal Tabernacle Church, officiating.  Interment will take place in the spring of 2023 at the Forest Home Cemetery in Newberry.

Barbara L. Kabelman
April 17, 1952 – January, 23, 2023

Lifelong Eckerman resident, Barbara Lynn Kabelman, 70, passed away Monday January 23, 2023 at MyMichigan Medical Center-Sault Ste. Marie with her family at her side.  Barbara was born April 17, 1952 in Newberry, daughter of the late Kenneth Sr. and Marion (Clark) Kabelman.

A lifelong resident of Eckerman, Barb completed the 10th grade and then went on to take care of her family. She had a passion for cooking and there’s not a person around that hasn’t had her famous “Beef and Noodles”. Barbara also had a passion for helping her community and loved being involved with kid’s parties, which she was a member of The Community Bear Club. She also loved crocheting, bingo and, most of all, her family.

Barb is survived by her daughter Jamie Kabelman of Eckerman, son Rod (Lori) Burgett of White Cloud and step-daughter Angie Pringle of Caro; grandchildren Kobe and Adeline Burch of Eckerman, Amanda (Brett) Vandenbroeck, Amber (Spencer) Burgett, Cody (Jamie) Burgett all of White Cloud, Josh (Lacey) Pringle and Bobby Pringle of all of Caro; great-granddaughters Arya, Azira and Arayna Vandenbroeck of White Cloud; siblings William Kabelman and Don (Terry) Kabelman all of Eckerman, Elizabeth Nichols of Kinross, Carol (Ron) Harding of Eckerman and Sheryl Kabelman of Eckerman; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Barb is proceeded in death by her parents Kenneth Sr. and Marion Kabelman; brother Pete Kabelman; sister Laura Kabelman; sister-in-law Lela Kabelman; brother-in-law’s Steven Nichols and Ed Gorentz; special friend James Kile.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Barb will be held Saturday February 4, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Strongs Community Bible Church with Darrell Hopper presiding.  A gathering of family and friends will follow at the American Legion Post #393 in Hulbert.  Interment will take place in the spring of 2023 at the Coburn Cemetery in Strongs.
