Judith Almeda Hewitt
August 11, 1945 – January 9, 2023
Former Engadine resident, Judith Almeda Hewitt, 77, died Monday afternoon January 9, 2023 at Whitcomb Senior Living Center in St. Joseph, Michigan.
Born August 11, 1945 in Newberry, daughter of the late Henry and Almeda (Friske) Schroeder, Judy was a 1963 graduate of Engadine High School. On August 27, 1966, Judy married Donald Hewitt Sr. in Engadine.
A resident of New Lothrop for several years, Judy was a devoted homemaker raising her family and also employed as a bus driver. In 1991, Judy and her husband Don moved back to Engadine where she was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Engadine. Judy enjoyed spending time with her family and target range shooting.
In addition to her parents, Judy is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Sr., on January 2, 2001 and brothers Ronald Schroeder and Wayne Schroeder.
Survivors include her sons, Donald Jr. (Beth) of New Buffalo, Michigan and Ronald (Kristy) of Sabina, Ohio; grandchildren Cyndy Hewitt, Jessica Hewitt, Emily Hewitt, Elizabeth Hewitt, Christopher Coleman and Nanette Manley; great-grandchildren Thomas Lott, Lincoln Coleman and Elliana Coleman; special friend Steve LaBelle of Saginaw.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday January 13, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry. Funeral services celebrating the life of Judy will follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Melinda VanderSys officiating. Interment will take place in the spring of 2023 at the Engadine Cemetery.
