Edwin W. Birdsley Sr.
May 19, 1940 – January 1, 2022

Edwin Wesley Birdsley Sr., 81, of Gould City, died Saturday morning January 1, 2022 at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital.

Born May 19, 1940 in Flint, Michigan, son of the late Orie and Viola (Coe) Birdsley, Edwin married the former Juanita Howard on February 24, 1961 in Benton Harbor, Michigan.

Edwin and Juanita moved to Gould City 38 years ago building their cabin from the trees on the property.  He held several employments in his lifetime retiring as a cashier at Pickelman’s Petro in 2005.

Edwin was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Manistique.  He enjoyed tinkering in the garage rebuilding broken down items and also vegetable and flower gardening.  Edwin was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who dedicated his life providing for his immediate and extended family.

In addition to his parents, Edwin is preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include his loving wife, Juanita, of Gould City; children Edwin Jr. (Augusta) Birdsley of Manistique, Beth (John) Rozeck of Gould City and Lois (Randy) Cheshire of Gould City; nine grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren; sister Phyllis Nutt of St. Joseph,  Michigan.

Per request, cremation services were accorded.  Due to COVID-19, a gathering of immediate family and friends through ZOOM will take place Saturday January 8, 2021 starting with a slide show at 1:30 pm and memorial services following at 2:00 pm.   Edwin’s service will be live streamed on Zoom with family reaching out to friends and extended family with the zoom credentials prior to the services.

Brian E. Mitchell
June 15, 1965 – December 26, 2021

Brian E. Mitchell, 56, of Marquette, and formerly of McMillan, MI, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at U.P. Health System – Marquette.

Brian was born June 15, 1965 in Evanston, IL to the late Robert L. and Linda R. (Erickson) Mitchell.  He grew up in McMillan and graduated from Newberry High School.

Brian worked for many years as a Service Advisor for Newberry Motors before moving to the Marquette area.

Brian enjoyed anything that had to do with the outdoors.  His hobbies included cutting wood, hunting, fishing, camping and hunting for old bottles.  He also enjoyed spending time with his son, Jacob.

Brian is survived by his longtime partner, Shelly Moock of Marquette; siblings, David Mitchell of McMillan, MI, Jane Fisher of Marquette, Mike Mitchell of Roselle, IL, Susan (Chip) Brauer of Germfask, MI, Jeff (Pam) Mitchell of South Daytona, FL and Sarah Mitchell of McMillan; step-mother, Sandy Mitchell of McMillan; nieces and nephew, Jessika, Samantha, Stevie, Haley, Dalton, Brenja and Cylie; as well as many foster children he had been a foster dad to over the years.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of Brian’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Brian’s name to your local Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization.
