The Tahquamenon Area Schools (TAS) Board of Education met for a special meeting Monday for the purpose of approving an employment contract for Shawn Tebo, who was recently selected as the district’s new superintendent.
The meeting took place in the board of education room on June 2 at 6 p.m. There were two members of the public in attendance.
The approved contract will employ Tebo for a term of two years, beginning July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2027, with a starting salary of $112,000 a year.
Tebo is coming to the Tahquamenon district from the G. T. Norman Elementary School in Reed City Michigan, where she currently serves as a third-grade teacher. She taught in Florida for several years and was an elementary principal and superintendent at Hillman Community Schools.
The Michigan Leadership Institute assisted TAS in the search for a new superintendent, which yielded nine candidates.
Retiring superintendent Stacy Price’s last day on the job is June 30.
