Luce County EMS and Rescue received a brand-new rescue snowmobile as a memorial donation on Monday, January 26.
The sled was donated by Midstate Rental and Myers for Tires from Gladwin, Michigan in memory of Ryan Myers, who died in a snowmobile accident in Luce County on January 26, 2025. Exactly one year to the day of the tragic accident, the new rescue snowmobile was received in Newberry. Friends and family of the late Ryan Myers were present this past Monday when the new sled was pulled into the Luce Ambulance building.
It is complete with flashing lights and reflective decals and is completely outfitted. Luce County Rescue uses snowmobiles to get to accidents down snowmobile trails where larger emergency vehicles cannot travel. They pull covered toboggans which carry the patient out from the scene.
This new sled will increase response time to calls. One Luce County Rescue personnel remarked, “I can’t even express how blown away the crew is because of this donation—we don’t even know what to say or how to thank this group of folks that did this amazing thing for us.”
