The Luce County Road Commission was unsuccessful in its bid to procure one of the 2024 Competitive RAISE grant to continue improvement of County Road 407 and County Road 410W.

Out of this year’s 1,000-plus eligible applications from across the nation, only 148 projects were awarded RAISE grants. Three of these projects are located in Michigan.

The three grants awarded in Michigan are: Downtown Kalamazoo Multi Modal Transportation Improvement Project: $25,000,000; KKIL Terminal Improvements Project, $21,252,132; Joe Lewis Meets the Iron Belle Connecting Communities in Detroit, $20,701,702.

The Luce County Road Commission anticipates hearing from the Federal Department of Transportation in August about how they can improve the odds of being awarded a future grant. That guidance will help determine whether the road commission will apply for a RAISE grant again in 2025.
