Newberry High School (NHS) is in the middle of their annual Fall Homecoming week culminating around the Friday night football game against Inland Lakes.

One of the highlights of the event will be the contest for fall homecoming Queen. Six senior girls will vie for that title, and one will be crowned during the halftime of the Varsity game. The contestants are: Josie Taylor, Adrian Fossitt, Rylie Burton, Lanie Plesscher, Ari Cornell, Delaney Bliss, and Olivia Taylor.

Homecoming week is also Spirit Week, where high schoolers dress for a specific topic. Each day of the week is a different theme. Monday was Beach Day; Tuesday was Superhero Day. Wednesday [today] is dress-up day. Thursday will be Country vs. Country Club Day and Friday will be Spirit Day, where students will sport the school colors—orange and black.

The Queen’s Court assembly will take place in the gymnasium on Wednesday, September 30 at 9 a.m.

The annual Powder Puff game between the junior and senior girls will take place at the athletic field on Thursday, October 1 at 6 p.m.

A homecoming parade, consisting of class floats and the queen candidates, will take place beginning at the school at 5:30 p.m. The parade will head north, making its way downtown—looping back around and ending at the athletic field.

The JV football game will begin at 4:30 Friday evening, with varsity kicking off at 7 p.m.

The week will end with a homecoming dance.
