It’s that time of year again—Newberry’s famous decorations are strung across main street—people are shopping for gifts and preparing for Christmas gatherings.

To keep with that holiday mood, the community of Newberry will be hosting a “Christmas in the Village” three-day event taking place December 13, 14, and 15.

This event is coordinated by a committee of local organizations and businesses. Organizers opted to spread the events throughout the weekend, a change-up from previous years.

“We wanted to make this a full-on family fun weekend,” said Elizabeth Magnuson, an event organizer.  “Our plan was mainly to make it a community event and include as many organizations and businesses as possible.”

The “Christmas in the Village” event is sponsored by Newberry Goodfellows, Yooper Youth, Tahquamenon Area Senior Citizens, Newberry Kiwanis, McMillan Lodge 400 F.&A.M., American Legion Post 74, Illumin8, Newberry Fire Department, Louisiana Pacific, Luce County Communities That Care, Helen Newberry Joy Hospital, Highline Internet, Newberry News, Village of Newberry, Luce County Sheriff’s Department, Newberry Motors, WNBY, Rahilly’s IGA, Mac’s Market, Snyder Drugs, and Goldthorpe Enterprises.

“We want everyone to get out and get excited about the Christmas season,” Magnuson said. “Everybody loves seeing our lights—there will be something for everybody.”
