Attention!! Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, whoever is responsible for children who are going to Tahquamenon Area Schools: Where has the respect gone?

When your children eat at home, are they allowed to throw food at each other? Are they allowed to throw it all over the floor? Are they allowed to put their feet on the table or chairs? Are they allowed to be disrespectful to you or older people?

I have been volunteering for a couple of months now at lunch in the cafeteria for “People Who Care.” I have made a lot of great friends. But I am so upset each day by the kids who have no respect for the school or adults.

It all starts at home people. Treat your fellow friends nice and don’t sass adults. Respecting adults is how I was raised and treat your friends as you would like to be treated.

I am sure you all think that it is NOT your child who is doing these things. Wake up and have a chat with your kids and grandkids. My kids knew that if they got in trouble at school they were in trouble at home.

There are so many that complain about our school. Walk a day in a teacher’s shoes and see what they deal with daily. Check your kid’s backpacks for vaping devices. We can all make a difference in our school and make it a better place to be.

Come join me in the lunchroom from 10:45 a.m. – 1 p.m. and see what goes on at school. You would be shocked.

Thank you,

Kathy Dzelak
