In the ongoing effort to place a non-motorized path north of Newberry to connect to other recreational trails, McMillan Township agreed to sign a contract with EUP Regional Planning to develop a Recreational Plan, which will make the trail project team eligible to receive assistance from the DNR Trust Fund grant.
The Recreation Plan will also allow for:
—The evaluation of the needs for parks, recreation, open space and greenways within the community.
—Ensuring eligibility for state grant funding, which supports development and the enhancement of recreational facilities.
—Helping communities comply with requirements set by the Michigan DNR.
