Have you ever experienced one of those Goliath moments (think David-assessing-Goliath scenario) when you face an enormous goal before you? Considering the big picture can scare the daylights out of many people. Goliath can freeze you in your tracks.
The goal to crushing your big goal (Goliath) is to look at it like one small puzzle piece at a time. Breaking down the “giant” goal into tiny individual pieces allows you to look at it in a very manageable perspective. One small task here, followed by another small task, followed by another. You start to build momentum by taking on one small piece after another.
Just like you look at the “giant” goal in small pieces, you don’t complete a “giant” puzzle in one move. You also don’t run a marathon all in one fell swoop. You run all 26.2 miles one step at a time. Focus on just the next step, while keeping your heart on the end goal. This is how you drop Goliath.
As the library approaches the summer of construction this year there are many planning pieces involved to ensure order through a long process ending in a grand reopening. I intend to provide you, our community of patrons, with ongoing updates and announcements as construction and updates proceed at the library. This week I want to share some details about TASPL’s closure period which our patrons need to know.
*The Library will close to the public on May 10. All TASPL material needs to be returned before May 10.
*MelCat hold requests turn off on April 19. Patron requests can be submitted up until that date. Any MelCat material that arrives can still be checked out.
*Holds Only operation will begin May 13. Only co-op library materials will be available for the duration of the closure.
*Hoopla and Overdrive online material are available at all times.
*Patron accounts will not expire through the duration of the closure.
*Library card numbers and PINs cannot be distributed over the phone.
*If a patron cannot remember their PIN they will need to schedule an appointment with a photo ID present to receive their PIN. If a library card is lost during the closure, the patron will have to schedule an appointment with photo ID present to receive a new library card.
*WIFI availability is TBD, and we will know further once we have moved into our Holds Only location within TAS.
*A library re-opening date is not available yet; as the construction will be ongoing until the end of the summer or beginning of fall 2024.
Take care and keep reading!
