Have you ever thought about volunteering at our local animal shelter? Are you interested in a cat or dog, but not sure what is available at the shelter? Would you like to donate supplies, but you’re not sure where to bring them? Now is your chance to come and check out the Luce County Animal Shelter and learn about all these things and more.
The Luce County Animal Shelter is hosting an open house on Saturday, October 21 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. You will have the opportunity to visit with some of the many animals there. Currently there are 41 cats/kittens, and 13 dogs (5 at NCF in training) available for adoption. There will be volunteers in the cat rooms, so you may come in and meet them, and pet the cats.
Volunteers will also bring dogs into the fenced area for the public to view. You can win a small price in a scavenger hunt and find out ways that you could help the shelter. There will be applications for adoption along with volunteering opportunities. There will be artwork displayed from students at TAS. You may also put your name into a drawing for 50% off a sponsored adoption fee. Donations will also be accepted to assist with the animal care.
Pet Pals will have a table with information available about the services that they provide. Light refreshments will be available. Shelter volunteers and workers are excited to have the opportunity to showcase the many animals who are awaiting their forever homes.
