Helen Newberry Joy Hospital is proud to recognize Kristine Lovett, RN, as the latest recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Lovett, known for her uplifting attitude, and dedication to high-quality care, is the second nurse at HNJH to receive this prestigious honor.

Patients and peers alike speak highly of Kristine’s ability to create a sense of trust and ease in even the most difficult moments. She brings heart and humor into her work, and her genuine connection with those she cares for leaves a lasting impression.

One patient shared “Kristine made me feel at ease during one of the most frightening times of my life. She made me laugh, reassured me everything would be okay, and provided the best care. We are lucky to have her.”

Kristine’s recognition is part of the international DAISY Award program, which honors the remarkable work nurses do every day. The DAISY Foundation was established in 1999 by the family of Patrick Barnes, who passed away from an autoimmune disease. During his hospitalization, Barnes’ family was deeply moved by the clinical skill and heartfelt care shown by his nurses. To honor their efforts, they created the DAISY Award—standing for Diseases Attacking the Immune SYstem—to recognize nurses who go above and beyond in patient care. The program now partners with more than 5,400 healthcare facilities in all 50 states and in over 35 countries around the world.

Helen Newberry Joy Hospital joined the DAISY program to celebrate the compassionate, expert care delivered by its nursing team every day. Community members are encouraged to nominate nurses who have made a difference in their lives by visiting hnjh.org/daisy-program.
