The Erickson Center for the Arts has been awarded a Dementia mini grant through the Michigan Public Health Institute.

The grant funds will assist the ECA in providing arts and cultural programs at no charge to those affected with dementia and their caregivers.

This grant will help the ECA encourage social engagement and illustrate the importance of continuing to remain active. It will help educate caregivers and share information about dementia to residents of the Curtis community and the surrounding areas including Newberry, Munising, Manistique, Engadine, Germfask, and McMillan.

The grant money will allow the ECA to provide several events that include concerts and stage productions, art classes, chair yoga instruction, and gallery tours all free of charge to dementia patients, their caregivers, and those who may be at risk of an Alzheimer’s or dementia diagnosis.

The funding for this grant starts this week and runs through September 30, 2023. For questions and more information please contact Kelly Chamberlin, Executive Director 906-291-0823.
