Independence Day is coming right up, bringing with it parades in many local communities.
The 45th Annual Kiwanis Club Newberry Parade will take place on Thursday, July 4, with a theme of “Celebrate Freedom: Luce County Liberty Luau”. Prizes for floats are: 1st place – $1,000, 2nd place – $400, and 3rd place – $200.
The 51st Annual Curtis Independence Day Celebration, which takes place on Sunday, July 7, has a “Christmas in July” theme. Portage Township Fire Department and EMS will be grand marshal. Prizes for floats are: 1st place – $1,500, 2nd place – $1,000, and 3rd place – $750.
The Top of the Lake Communities Association Fourth of July Celebration in Naubinway will have a “This is HOME” themed parade on Thursday, July 4 with Genevieve Cousineau as the grand marshal. A kiddie parade takes place the evening of Wednesday, July 3.
