Rodney Dane LaFond, 72, of Curtis, died Saturday morning January 18, 2020 at his residence.
Born August 9, 1947 in Newberry, son of Reynold and Elizabeth (Berry) LaFond, Rod was a 1965 graduate of Newberry High school where he excelled on the debate and track and field teams. Rod attended Michigan State University and later graduated from the University of Kentucky receiving a bachelor’s degrees in social work.
Rod was employed as a realtor in Watertown, N.Y. for several years and moved back to Curtis residing the past 25 years. Rod enjoyed research, genealogy and reading.
Rod is preceded in death by her father Reynold and sister Cathy Kennicott.
Survivors include his sons Jon (Rachel) of Germantown, MD and Jason (Cheryl) LaFond of Austin, TX; mother Elizabeth Decator of Newberry; grandchildren Millie Frances and Donavan LaFond; siblings Jill (Bernie) Lampi of Austin, TX, Richey LaFond of Robertsdale, AL and Tamie LaFond of Curtis; brother-in-law Scott Kennicot of Summerdale, AL; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday January 25, 2020 from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon at the Erickson Center for the Arts in Curtis with a memorial service at 12:00 noon and a luncheon following.
