Philip Michael Haupt. 65, of Newberry, died Monday morning March 2, 2020 at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital in Newberry.

Born October 1, 1954 in Detroit, son of Michael J. and Phyllis A. (Reinke) Haupt, Philip was a 1972 graduate of Gabriel Richard High School and a 1978 graduate of Wayne State University receiving a bachelor’s of fine arts degree.

Philip was employed as a graphic artist in the Detroit area for several years until his retirement as supervisor in 2018 and was extremely proud of his advertising creations for the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers.

Following his retirement, Philip moved to the Upper Peninsula and during his lifetime enjoyed fishing, agate hunting, tinkering with machinery and spending time with his family.

Philip is preceded in death by his father Michael, brother Kenneth, sister Suzanne and brother-in-law Thomas Enright.

Survivors include his mother, Phyllis, of Newberry; siblings Pamela Enright of Clare, Linda (Thomas) Joseph of Bethesda, MD, David (Mary) Haupt of Lewiston, Stephen (Judith) Haupt of Newberry, Catherine (Frank) Chenard of Newberry, Christopher (Maryann) Haupt of Newberry and Andrew (Daniele) Haupt of Sterling Heights; favorite Uncle to Nicholas, Eric, Nathaniel, Adam, Jeffrey, Stephanie, Martha, Kristen, Joshua, John, Ryan, Ashley, Zachary, Xavier and Joshua; great Uncle to Sabrina, Evelyn, Adaline, Simon, Madelyn, Nora and Lucy.

Per his request, cremation services were accorded with no public services scheduled.
